The BBSA is considering putting together winter development/tournament teams for players ages 9 through 12, depending on the interest from the league. We are looking for feedback from our membership on the interest level for these teams.
These teams would be not to be full time travel teams, but they may compete in tournaments and additional games. They would be put together to provide additional development and allow players the opportunity to grow as players. In the winter they may train with the full time travel teams (Rebels) to share the costs associated with that training and provide a universal training program across the BBSA. They would practice in spring as a team and have the opportunity to participate in 1 or 2 indoor tournaments prior to the start of the In-House season. All members of this team would be required to play In-House for their respective age. During the In-House season, and as schedules allow, they would practice, adjusting for In-House teams practice and game schedules.
These teams would participate in additional games on Sundays during the season, to give these players additional playing time and experience. Any additional tournaments would be on a team by team basis.
These teams are not the same as a Little League All Star teams. All Star tryouts will be separate and held in early June of each season. These teams will also not interfere with All Stars and will not operate during All Star season. With the additional practice and experience, hopefully, many of the players on these teams can be better prepared to make the All Star teams.
There will be an additional cost associated with being on these teams, the total depending on how many tournaments are entered and how many indoor training sessions are set up. It could range anywhere from $200 to $500, although fund raising can offset some of the per-child cost. More info to come soon.
